'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ollie Rubbishes Blackburn Link

Ian Holloway has moved to distance himself from the vacant manager's job at Blackburn Rovers in a hilarious pre-match press conference.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow's clash with Spurs, the 'Pool gaffer had the assembled media in hysterics as he rounded on not only Blackburn's new heiraracy, but also FIFA, Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini for the proposed idea of holding the 2022 Qatar World Cup during the winter because the temperatures will be too high during the summer.

On the suggestion that he could replace Sam Allardyce at Ewood Park, Holloway said:

'I know I've got a few chickens but it is ridiculous to link me with that. It is absolute rubbish.

'I signed a contract at Blackpool in the summer, which lasts this season and next season, and I am more than happy. I don't need to talk to anybody.

'I am privileged to have this job and I am trying to do the best I can.'

Meanwhile, on loan forward Luke Varney has reiterated his desire to stay at Bloomfield Road.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Varney said:

'I've said from the start that if there is in anything in place, I'd be delighted to stay here.

'They have been fantastic to me and gave me a great chance.

'There's no way I'm going anywhere - I'm here until at least the end of the season and then I'd love to sit down and sort things out.

'It's a place where I am really enjoying my football and I'm sure I will continue to do so. I wouldn't be interested in going anywhere in January, I've made that clear.'

It is believed that negotiations between Blackpool and Derby to make Varney's transfer permanent are currently ongoing.
