'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bye Bye Coidy, Coidy Goodbye

It was rumoured early this morning and confirmed late this afternoon: Danny Coid has joined League Two Rotherham on loan.

The full back has joined the promotion chasers for an initial month, but tellingly has also been granted permission to play for the club in the FA Cup.

The move seems to indicate that Coidy's 'Pool days are numbered, with manager Ian Holloway beginning to look at the changes that he wants to make to his squad in the January transfer window.

My first ever article as Co-Editor on this site was a tribute to Coidy, and there's no doubt that he's a modern day 'Pool hero; it's just a shame that injuries have taken their toll and the club's rise has coincided with his downfall.

It would be nice for Coidy - who is Blackpool through and through and came through our youth ranks - could be given a token Premier League appearance before his (expected) departure, but as we all know, football is not a sentimental game and we could well have seen the full back in tangerine for the final time.

We wish him well at Rotherham; if the Millers can keep him fit there's no doubt that he'll prove to be a brilliant signing, but it's perhaps of reflection of his injury proneness that he finds himself leaving the Premier League for League Two after not being considered for the trip to Aston Villa.

Meanwhile, Ollie's foul mood continued today after it emerged that his last two team selections have been linked online.

Members of fellow 'Pool website AVFTT have posted his team selections up to 48 hours before the Everton and Villa games, leaving the manager fuming.

It will be interesting to see if the team is leaked for the third game in a row, although Ollie has already publically stated that David Vaughan will be recalled to the side.

Let's hope that his mood is brightened tomorrow with a 'Pool win!
