CAMPBELL SEALS BLACKPOOL MOVE
DJ Campbell's signature has FINALLY been secured by Blackpool in the last couple of minutes.
The striker, who was pivitol in the promotion to the Premiership of the Seasiders, moves from Leicester City for around £1.2m and will take the number 39 shirt.
The fee is a club record by some distance and Campbell will net wages of around £10,000-a-week whilst at Bloomfield Road. He has signed a two-year deal with the option of a third.
DJ moving has now ended a summer of speculation surrounding his Foxes future and seesaw transfer negotiations between the two clubs.
Leicester were thought to be weighing up various offers from Pool but it now seems that they were holding out for a replacement before showing their cards. Paulo Sousa managed to capture Martyn Waghorn from Sunderland this morning for £2m which paved the way for Campbell to complete the transfer.
It is believed that initial contract details between Blackpool and the player were ironed out sometime before the £1.2m was agreed.
Campbell was always Ian Holloway's top target since the victory over Cardiff at Wembley and provides Pool with a potent goal threat. In 34 starts for Blackpool - during two loan spells - he scored 17 goals. His first loan spell was to keep the club in the Championship; the second was to promote them to the Premiership. What will the permanent move bring?
