Greed Could Scupper Pitman Deal

Brett Pitman's dream move to the Premiership could be in tatters, through sheer greed.

The Bournemouth striker, who scored a hat-trick at the weekend, was in Blackpool yesterday to discuss personal terms and have a medical.

Both were believed to have been agreed, with the 22-year-old set for wages six times his Cherries packet.

The Seasiders were reported to have been paying around £600,000 for Pitman's services.

But it has emerged from a reliable source at Bloomfield Road that between passing his medical and signing the forms needed, Pitman (probably in conjunction with his agent) demanded an extra £2k a week - something 'Pool weren't prepared to offer.

All this comes after Karl Oyston stepped down as Chairman, after having a testing summer with agents.

It has been said that a deal could still be done, but it's just yet another transfer which looks set to rumble on.

The Bournemouth chairman has sanctioned a deal that was incredibly poor business, accepting a price he admits he is not happy with (funny how 6 of his companies have gone bust) so Blackpool got a cheap deal. I'd be interested if he has been offered 6x his current salary, but that will still be a lot less than he could get elsewhere. I think it would be good for the game if Blackpool stuck to their guns, particularly if the agent is behind this. My advice is to send Brett back to Bournemouth.

I know if i was a player that loved football - and was offered 6 times my salary and was wanted by a club id be more than delighted to sign into that... greed is taking over ! :( its not for the better !

Picture the scene. Saturday 3pm. 4,000 bin dippers away at Tranmere. Or 70,000 at The Emirates playing in the best league in the WORLD. Enough said, the fat greedy twunt.

I dont subscribe to the point from agents that its a short career! Some are in the business for life so work is around if you are good enough at what you do. I also dont subscribe to their point because if I have an accident that cripples me tommorow Im in exactly the same boat as the player! Wake up & smell the coffee Brett and do the right thing or go back to Bournemouth and in some years time have those regrets!

I don't understand. Surely we'll both be in the same division next year anyway?

Maybe he just decided he didn't want to move to Blackpool. If he continues to score more goals in League One, his value will increase, as will the number of Premier clubs after him and therefore so will his wages.

jesus- he's hardly the first person this summer not to fancy playing for a maverick manager in a team that struggled to get more than 8000 through your gates last term. Perhaps he's spoken to his old colleague Wade Elliott at Burnley and found out getting hammered and laughed at by Premier League teams each week for an entire season ain't that much fun...

Sometimes it's NOT the money , the guy may have dam good reasons for not signing. After you lot giving him stick about being greedy is well over the top and sour grapes . Give the guy a break and let him make his OWN mind up. maybe he might like to be by the real seaside !

madness somewhere there has to be a middle ground here, and if he is as good as he thinks then Blackpool will make a profit at some stage. I would suggest that IH starts doing the negotiating with the players and leave KO to deal with the clubs.

I don't get it, when will these players learn? Use BFC as a stepping stone if you want to, but for god sake don't miss the opportunity to play in the PL. If he doesn't want to play for BFC or wants more money send him back to Bournmouth and he can have Dagenham away instead of Liverpool, Everton, Villa. USE YOUR HEAD BRETT.

Fritter Its funny your chairman is attracting attention as to his own business dealings,so dont pick on the Bournemouth chairman...its good business selling a good product to a second rate one with no future....& Bret can probaly see that & well said AJP28 you have hit the nail on the head. Those in glass houses shouldnt throw stones!...so go & fry yourself,Fritter....

It strikes me that Blackpool really need time in the PL to become established. If they are bottom at Christmas then the january window is going to be much the same for them, but if they do well and get a few scalps, they will become more attractive to players, some will want to buy into Holloway's revolution. I really hope so, a draw today (or nick a result) will do wonders for the. Holloway won't be reconsidering his position, I promise yoy that.

Maybe he's waiting for the call from Manchester City.... ;')
Chuckmeister_EFC
My guess is that he had no promise of first team football and defintely don't think Brett would be happy sitting on the bench.
