Swans Turn Down Rangel Bid
Swansea have announced on their official website that the club has rejected an offer from Blackpool for Angel Rangel.
The right back was left out of his side's pre-season friendly last night sparking speculation about his future, but Swans manager Brendan Rodgers stated after the game that although a bid had been received, it had also been rejected.
'An offer has come in to the chairman from Blackpool for Angel. But it has not been accepted.
'The situation is under control and I am due to have a meeting with Angel tomorrow [Friday].
'I want him to stay and there is the offer of another contract on the table for him.'
Rangel's current contract ends this coming summer, and there was speculation that the Seasiders had bid £1 million for the player.
However, it is my understanding that this is not the case, and that rather the Seasiders were looking to sign Rangel and Stephen Dobbie in a double deal.
In a potential further blow to Blackpool, Wigan are also reported to be tracking Rangel, although Sky Sports News were reporting last night that they are on the verge of signing another right back, which could mean that Angel would not be guarenteed first team football at the DW Stadium despite his ex manager Roberto Martinez being a big fan of his.
What our bid for Rangel does suggest though is that any deal for Everton's Seamus Coleman is now dead in the water.
