'Pool Set To Smash Transfer Record

Following a late night meeting with chairman Karl Oyston on Monday, Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has revealed that Blackpool are set to smash their transfer record after making a flurry of new bids.

It is understood that Ollie has made two offers in excess of the £500,000 that the Seasiders paid for Charlie Adam last summer, but that the club have launched as many as seven other bids for players, with rumours suggesting that the total value of the offers made is in excess of £5 million.

Speaking to the Blackpool Gazette, Holloway said:

'I offered more money today than I have ever done in my whole career - and I've been a manager for 14 years and have bought some decent players.

'We smashed our record yesterday with a couple of offers. That sums up what we are trying to do.

'So when people ask what is going on, basically I've been trying to find out who is available, if I like them, how they might fit in, what I had last season and what I am going to need this season.

'You don't need to be a rocket scientist to think about who we haven't got who scored in vital games for us.'

Could Ollie's closing sentence suggest that the likes of DJ Campbell could be on their way to the seaside permanently?
