Edwards Signs New Deal
Blackpool have this evening confirmed that out of contract centre half Rob Edwards has signed a new contract with the club.
Edwards has signed a one year deal with a one year option, leaving manager Ian Holloway left to look for one less defender this summer.
Edwards had been out of contract with the Seasiders having not had his option taken up, but Ian Holloway always maintained that he wished to keep the player at the club but on different contractual terms; presumably rewarding him heavily whenever he does play next season.
The player is expected to be fourth choice centre half next season, but maintains that he always wanted to stay at Blackpool:
'There's never been any doubt that I wanted to stay and I'm just glad it's all sorted out now.
'I love working here with the lads and the manager. I thoroughly enjoyed last year and I want to part of it again this year.
'Being involved in the Premier League is the ultimate for any player and that was a big pull as well in me staying.'
Edwards joined the Seasiders for around £250,000 in August 2008.
