'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Turner and Walters Look To 'Pool For Inspiration

For years we were trying to follow the models of other clubs; Colchester, Scunthorpe, Plymouth... you name it, we followed it.

Time and time again clubs with small budgets were held up to us as great examples for the way that the Seasiders should be run.

However, since our promotion to the Premier League, it's us who are being heralded as the example for other clubs to follow.

Speaking to the Hartlepool official website this morning, manager Chris Turner stated that the Seasiders are 'something of an inspiration for all smaller clubs whatever division you're in'.

Meanwhile, Ipswich forward Jon Walters offered similar thoughts to the East Anglian Daily Times:

'Our supporters may have expected a signing or two by now and we may be outsiders for promotion, but Blackpool have shown what can be achieved by a team nobody fancied to do well.

'They are now looking ahead to life in the Premier League, and this must be our aim for this time next year.'

In other news, Blackpool assistant manager Steve Thompson has said that the whole squad look in good shape having reported back for pre-season training, and that to expect more trialists as the summer progresses and the Seasiders look to bolster their squad.

Manager Ian Holloway is believed to have cut a family holiday short and be meeting with chairman Karl Oyston this afternoon, possibly over transfer targets.
