'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Adam: Don't Write Us Off

Blackpool's players returned to training yesterday ahead of what promises to be a long, hard season in the Premier League.

However, midfield maestro Charlie Adam has sent out a warning to the rest of the division by warning them not to write the Seasiders off as an easy six points, and by stating that the 'Pool are there to more than just make up the numbers.

Speaking to the Gazette, Adam said:

'It doesn't matter who we are up against in the Premier League next season. Whether it's Wigan or Manchester United they are all established teams, apart from the three that went up.

'This is probably the best league in the world and for us to be going there is great. Every fixture will be a dream for us because at the start of last season none of us expected to be in the Premier League.

'But we're not in it just to make the numbers up.

'We want to show that everyone in our dressing room is capable of playing at the top level. We've got to be prepared mentally and physically because it is going to be tough. We will be up against some of the best players around.

'But we are looking forward to it and for us the hard work started yesterday when we reported back.

'The manager was terrific with us last year and hopefully it will be more of the same this year.

'We will work as hard as any team in the league and that's why we've got to get the pre-season right and make sure we're ready.'
