'Pool And Toon To Battle It Out For Cleverley?

The Sun is today reporting that Blackpool and Newcastle are battling it out to take Tom Cleverley on loan from Manchester United.

The youngster - 20 - recently signed a new three year deal at Old Trafford, but United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is keen for him to get some Premier League experience away from the magnifying glass of Old Trafford.

Both Blackpool and Newcastle will have seen Cleverley in action regularly for Watford last season, where he shone during a loan spell.

However, despite Blackpool being closer to Manchester geographically wise, it is believed that Newcastle are favourites to land the player.
