DJ Deal Deadlock

As reported in yesterday's Daily Mail, any deal to bring back striker DJ Campbell to Blackpool - this time on a permanent basis - has reached deadlock with the Seasiders (quite rightly) refusing to meet Leicester's demands.

It had been reported by the local press that the Foxes were demanding £1 million for the player, but the Daily Mail claimed yesterday that it was closer to £1.5 million.

However, it is Vital's understanding that the Foxes have in fact quoted Blackpool £1.8 million for Campbell as they look to recoup what they paid for him.

Naturally, the Seasiders have refused to pay this. We might be loaded, but we're still prudent. Indeed, Karl Oyston reiterated again yesterday that the 'Pool will not be spending silly money on anyone.

And despite having a flexible transfer and wage budget to work with, manager Ian Holloway is loathe to spend £1.8 million on a player who was available for £250,000 last summer, is on massive wages, only has a year to run on his contract, and has no real re-sale value.

Indeed, whilst wanting to re-sign DJ (and indeed Stephen Dobbie), Ian Holloway has confirmed that he is unsure of his transfer policy yet, even after speaking to previous Premier League managers.

Every summer we seem to have a transfer saga at the club... could DJ be this summer's?
