Belokon: We Can't Afford Any Mistakes

Blackpool FC President Valery Belokon - the man responsible for helping to fund where we are today by paying for the likes of Charlie Adam and the South Stand - has said that the Seasiders' main hope of survival in the Premier League next season is to make as few mistakes as possible.

Speaking about the club's promotion and next season's fight for survival, the eccentric Latvian said:

'This is a competition where you cannot afford a single mistake. The one who makes fewest mistakes wins.

'The Premier League is packed with top-class professionals so we have to analyse our mistakes.

'We need to do this and think about it even while we celebrate our success.

'But I am delighted we are there.

'It is a big event in our town. People are proud of us.

'Blackpool are a great example to other small towns in the country.

'Money is not everything - we have proved it.

'Many were sceptical and smirked when I said I wanted to get to the Premier League because, for many, the only way to get to the top division is through heavy investment.

'But we proved that the main thing is to believe you can do it.'

You can read more from Mr Belokon on the UEFA website, including how he wasn't happy with Ian Holloway's appointment when it was first made! Bet he's happy now!
