Southern: 'We Can Do It, But There's No Pressure'
Remember a banner during our Perfect Ten that said 'Believe'? Well, Keith Southern certainly believes that the Seasiders can make the playoffs this season.
However, at the same time, the midfielder says that the 'Pool are under no pressure to do so.
'It is 'pinch me' territory. But as the season goes on, and as the last couple of years have gone on, you realise that Blackpool are at home in this league.
'There is nothing to fear.
'We've got some very good players at this club and a spirit and mentality - it is kind of us against the rest.
'We are taking that into each game at the moment and long may it continue.'
Southern places the credit for the Seasiders' remarkable season firmly at the door of manager Ian Holloway, stating that he has changed the players' mindsets:
'We've come a long way in a short space of time.
'The manager has brought us on leaps and bounds and a hell of a lot of the credit must go to him, the way he sets us up, the formation and the tactics we play.
'He has changed the mindset of the club. But what have we achieved? We haven't achieved anything yet.
'We've achieved another year in the Championship, I suppose, but we don't want to settle for that.
'We want to push on and finish as high as we can.'
However, Southern says that there is no pressure on the Seasiders to make the top six:
'There's no pressure on us, all the pressure is on the teams above us and we've got a final opportunity with six games to play to really impose ourselves.'
This Easter weekend will prove key to any aspirations the Seasiders have of making the top six come May, with the 'Pool facing Scunthorpe today and then Doncaster on Monday.
