'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Howard Comments Smack of Arrogance

Reading midfielder Brian Howard has admitted that his team-mates were guilty of thinking they could just turn up to win at Bloomfield Road on Saturday.

'Pool easily coasted past the Royals with a goal in each half from DJ Campbell and Charlie Adam.

'Maybe we got a bit complacent thinking we could just turn up and win with the great form we've been in,' the midfielder said - who was particularly poor.

That's not all. The former Barnsley man went on to criticise the atmosphere at the seaside, citing that they're not used to such surroundings.

I didn't realise that the Madejski was a cauldron of noise?

'We were second best and we're disappointed about it. But it was one game on a horrendous pitch with no atmosphere in the stadium. It wasn't what we're about,' continued the journeyman.

'Hopefully it's just one bad day, there haven't been too many of those of late,' despite the side sitting just two points aboce the dropzone.

In post-match comments from an away player reminiscent of the past two years: 'It could have easily been the other way, but we will look forward to two more big games this week and we can`t be too down about it.'

In fairness, the atmosphere was poor... But then I guess that was because of the lack of banter between the home fans and the 200 or so travelling fans stuck at the other end of the ground? That, and Reading aren't exactly the most exciting prospect to play at the moment, are they? Unlike Boro in mid-week, it's kind of hard for us as fans to get worked up over them... I guess like the Reading players who were just simply awful and an embarrassment to their travelling fans! It must hurt him deep down inside to have "little" Blackpool Towering (no pun intended!) over the MIGHTY Royals in the league. HA!

Cheeky git, it wasn't that long ago Reading were a two-bit lower league outfit.
