'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Managers React To Wednesday's Match

Despite the 3-2 defeat, Blackpool manager Ian Holloway was proud of his side:

'It was a fantastic atmosphere, a fantastic game of football and I was very proud of those Tangerines, not for losing but for the way they played and the character they showed.

'I know I said the West Brom and Leicester games were crucial but just because we've lost the first game, I believe it's made me realise we are a better side than I thought we were - and that's what I am very pleased about.'

However, he was not happy about the referee's decision to award a match-winning penalty:

'It is a shame we had to lose this one on a referee's penalty decision.

'My lads are shattered about that decision because they thought it was a fair tackle.'

Meanwhile, Di Matteo admitted that the Baggies were fortunate to leave Bloomfield Road with all three points:

'This was a really hard fought match. We have to dig in and fight for the points. Not many teams come here and go away with anything but I am delighted with my players' performance.'
