'Insulting' 'Pool Bid Rejected

'Insulting' 'Pool Bid Rejected

It has emerged that Blackpool's improved offer for Dundee United centre half - an offer that could have seen the Seasiders pay as much as £500,000 for the Scot - has been rejected by the Scottish club, with their chairman labelling it as 'insulting'.

It is reported that United value the player in excess of £750,000, but that they do not wish to sell him and that he is happy to stay at Tannadice.

United chairman Stephen Thompson said:

'The offer was an insult as far as I'm concerned and I've told Garry's agent to tell Blackpool they're wasting their time.

'We don't want to sell him but they obviously think they can pick up Scottish players on the cheap. It's not on.'

I wouldn't say that that last paragraph is true - 'Pool manager Ian Holloway has gone on record about how much players from both England and Scotland cost, but it does look as if the Seasiders are trying to drive a hard bargain.

Ollie has struggled to secure his targets throughout the transfer window, and we can only hope that that luck changes before 5pm today.

However, we should state that the club are confident of signing at least two players before the transfer window closes and of course Vital Blackpool will be here with all the news as it happens.
