'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Young Midfielder Set for Trial at 'Pool

Ian Holloway said when he arrived at Bloomfield Road in June that he would be looking to blood some youngsters.

He signed Billy Clarke, Al Bangura and Neal Eardley to prove he meant it.

And now he's set to take a look at teenager Jamie Symes later this month.

The 16-year-old central midfielder has duel registration at non-league sides Dorchester Town and Bridport, and has played a big part in both teams' seasons - winning four man of the match awards.

Symes was supposed to link up with the first team this week but the big freeze put pay to that. So he'll head up to Blackpool on January 31 for four days.

Talking to the Dorset Echo, Symes said: 'I want to show Ian what I'm capable of and I'm really looking forward to going up there and training with the first team every morning.

'If I they like me then they will keep an eye on me while I'm with Dorchester and Bridport, because I can't sign any sort of contract until June, when I will turn 17.

'Ian said it's more of an opportunity for me to look at them and see if I like it. It's so far away that if the chance comes for me to sign, I need to make sure I`ll be happy there.'
