Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells...
Blackpool bounced back into form and gave us the perfect Christmas present this afternoon with a 2-0 win over a beleagured Derby County, courtesy of a brace from Brett Ormerod.
Ormerod could have had more: he hit the bar early doors after tormenting the Derby defence (a regular theme throughout the afternoon), fired wide when through on goal and forced Bywater into two good saves - all in the first half hour!
Charlie Adam also went mightily close to scoring, finding the roof of the netting from 65 yards. One day he'll score from that kind of range!
At the other end, Derby had a chance to open the scoring: Lee Croft found himself one on one with Paul Rachubka (deputised for Matt Gilks who has flu), but the American stopper blocked the ineffectual Croft's shot with his legs.
Ormerod finally opened his account for the afternoon seven minute before the break, slotting home from a tight angle courtesy of a deflection off Jake Buxton.
Just before the hour Gary Taylor-Fletcher missed a good chance as the Seasiders looked to kill the game off infront of an irksome Derby crowd.
Brett Ormerod then had a goal disallowed whilst Nigel Clough made changes in an attempt to change the course of the game.
However, not even ex 'Pool sharpshooter DJ Campbell could change the course of the game nor take advantage of Ian Holloway being forced to sub Alex Baptiste.
Instead it was the Seasiders who settled matters: Ormerod racing onto a great ball from Taylor-Fletcher and firing home.
In the closing stages Derby's dismal afternoon was compounded by Dean Moxey's dismissal for a professional foul on Ormerod.
