'Pool Legend Charnley Passes Away

One of The Seasiders' greatest goalscorers of all time Ray Charnley has died.

The striker, who netted 193 league goals for Blackpool in just over 350 games, passed away at the age of 74.

Whilst the leading scorer at Bloomfield road for nine seasons, Charnley was integral under Joe Smith and Ron Stuart.

In 1962 he received his one and only call up to England duty when they played France. The general feeling was this came years too late.

After leaving Blackpool later in his career under Stan Mortensen, Ray went onto play for Preston, Wrexham and Bradford Park Avenue.

A minute silence will be observed at the live Sky game against Preston on November 30 and all players will wear black armbands in memory of Charnley.
