'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Full Time: Leicester City 2 - 1 Blackpool

An entertaining game ends in Blackpool's first defeat of the season.

The Seasiders started brightly with Charlie Adam's rasping drive flying just wide and a mis-hit shot from Keith Southern hitting the post.

What was concerning for 'Pool was the way in which Steve Howard found space inside the box and the big striker - formerly of Luton - had a header saved and one flash wide.

Lloyd Dyer went close for the hosts and Adam also tested the City defence in an extremely open first half.

A goal was coming and it came from a silly foul by Emmanuel-Thomas in the midfield, who tripped his man, and whilst the Tangerine defence were sleeping Richie Wellens quickly found Matty Fryatt who slotted home on 26 minutes.

But the visitors came back strongly and a fantastic one-two between Adam and captain Jason Euell saw the Scotsman race clear and dribbled past the goalkeeper - poking home into an empty net.

Minutes later Matt Oakley saw a freekick hit the post and Wellens was denied a penalty when he went down inside the box.

1-1 at the break and it ended with Ian Evatt joining Stephen Crainey in the box.

The 1007 visiting Seasiders saw Jason Euell miss a guilt-edge chance seven minutes after the break when the midfielder got inbetween markers but headed wide from a Neal Eardley cross.

Just five minutes later on 58, disaster struck. Rob Edwards woefully mis-judged a back header which allowed Matty Fryatt to take the ball on, rounding Rachubka and sealing the three points.

Jay Thomas saw a shot fly wide which until the last few moments was 'Pool's only real effort after the Euell chance.

Holloway made changes - bringing Bouazza, Clarke and Vaughan on for Ormerod, Euell and Southern.

Ben Burgess - who did well to get through 90 minutes after passing a fitness test - almost won a point but his shot which looked goalbound was deflected wide.

The Seasiders had plenty of corners but couldn't capitalise after uncharacteristically poor delivery from Neal Eardley.

The unbeaten record has now gone which also sees us slip a few places, but we'll go into Wednesday's game with confidence after a good first half performance.
