'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Former Seasider Harte 'Ready for Battle'

Former Blackpool left back Ian Harte can't be accused of taking tonight's pre-season friendly at Carlisle United lightly.

The 31-year-old is relishing the chance to play against some old team mates when The Seasiders travel to Brunton Park.

'I was only at Blackpool a short time, but I enjoyed it and they have got some very good players,' he said.

'But that's gone. I'm wearing a Carlisle shirt now and when you cross the white line, you're into battle. You can see your friends after the game.'

Ian Holloway's side - or perhaps more specifically our right winger - will be in for a battle when they come up against Harte, especially after the former Ireland international viciously dumped Middlesbrough's Gary O'Neill on his backside last Saturday.

Talking about that challenge, Harte stated: 'The tackle was quite physical, but it was there to be won. I let him know he was in a game.'

And after some fairly leisurely games in the last month, this could be exactly what 'Pool need to kickstart their preperations for the new campaign.
