Ormerod Calls For Fighting Spirit

Having signed a new one year deal this week, Pool striker Brett Ormerod has turned his attentions to next season, urging his teammates to show the same fighting spirit as they did last season.

However, Ormerod admits that he was very disappointed at the resignation of Tony Parkes.

'I was surprised and sad that Tony went.

'Tony was superb with me. He was the one who brought me back here in January and he looked after me a lot.

'I can't talk about it too much because I don't know the ins and outs - that's between the club and Tony - but the bottom line is that we have a new manager now and are looking forward.

'I was on holiday when Ian Holloway got the job. Even when you're away with the family you keep half an eye on what's going on, and Holloway getting the job was quite exciting, I suppose.

'He is a high-profile figure and hopefully he will inspire Blackpool to better things.'

'I think the manager has hit the nail on the head with his comments about our team spirit. That has been the biggest factor in this club doing so well in the last couple of years, and we are going to need it again in abundance next season.'
