Brett Ormerod Latest

Following Danny Coid signing a new deal last week, Brett Ormerod was left as the only out of contract player at Bloomfield Road still locked in talks regarding a new deal.

Like Coid, 32 year old Ormerod is very keen to stay at Bloomfield Road, but having apparently recieved offers from several league clubs, any deal would hinge on the terms offered.

Pool supremo Ian Holloway speaking to the Blackpool Gazette said: 'Brett Ormerod is my next point of focus now. I felt he did really well at the end of last season and so did my staff.

'He started his career at Blackpool and I'd like to keep him here after the way he played last season.

'Brett is an honest hard-working lad, who runs, chases and puts his foot in.

'He always puts a full stint in for the team. That speaks volumes for him, so I look forward to sorting that out.

'The chairman has been dealing with it and is keeping me informed.

'We need to sort it out as quickly as we can.'

Well, in today's Gazette, it is reported that Ormerod is now very close to agreeing a new contract at the club.

'I think we are nearly there,' said Holloway. 'We had reached a situation where Brett thought something and the chairman thought something else, and I managed to move it a little bit towards the middle where they could both agree.

'I think everyone is reasonably happy, although no-one is ever happy really.

'I am yet to meet a chairman who is happy at having to pay someone extra money.

'And I've never met anyone who is more than happy with their wages ... unless you're Ronaldo.

'But in this situation I think both parties are reasonably happy, and although there are still little things to iron out I am very hopeful Brett will be playing for us next season.'
