Blackpool captain Rob Edwards, currently recovering from ankle surgery, has spoken to the club's official website and the Blackpool Gazette about his desire to impress new Pool boss Ian Holloway.
'You want to get in straight away and try and impress him,' said the defender.
'From that first day myself and everyone else will be trying to stake our claim in an effort to make sure we are on his teamsheet for the first game of the season.
'I've not had anything to do with him in terms of working with him before but when I see him talking on the telly or doing commentary he always sounds quite bubbly and funny.
'He seems like someone who will be fun to work with. We'll have to work hard of course but that won't be a problem because there are a good bunch of lads here already.
'I'm really looking forward to working with him.'
Edwards also believes that Holloway's success with fellow Championship side Plymouth stands in him good stead to be a success at Blackpool:
'Plymouth was one of those places that teams really didn't like going to because maybe they're not as glamorous, which is probably similar to us at the moment. He'll probably bring a lot of the things that he did there to us and I'm sure that's only going to help us.'
The skipper also added that he is looking forward to the changes that Holloway makes at the club:
'It's good that his appointment was sorted quite quickly because he can have a look at things, areas he needs to improve in the squad and the club as well.
'He can do it a long time before the season starts, which isn't always the case with some managers who are appointed days before the start of the season.
'I'm sure he's going to instil his own sort of views on how he wants to play and I'm sure he'll also bring one or two faces in as well that will help us.
'But that's what we need and I am looking forward to getting back to training and trying to impress.'
Edwards is hoping to be fit for the start of pre-season training on July 1st.
