Coid and Ormerod Close To New Deals

Earlier this week when the list of players released was announced, there was two notable exceptions: Danny Coid and Brett Ormerod.

The official website announced that negotiations were ongoing with both players. Now, according to an interview with Pool boss Ian Holloway, published on the Sky Sports website yesterday, both players are expected to sign new deals in the very near future.

'I think Danny is going to sign up this week, if not then definitely next week when he is back off holiday,' he told skysports.com.

'The chairman is back from Portugal this weekend and will be sitting down with Brett Ormerod's agent to try and finalise a deal for him, so hopefully that will also be resolved by the end of next week.

'It's great news to keep them on board because they are good players. Brett has obviously had a great career since leaving here and it will be great to have him back.

'Those two players were instrumental in keeping this club in the Championship last season, so it will be a boost to keep them here.'

Ormerod rejoined the club in the January transfer window on a free transfer from Preston. Meanwhile, Coid completed his testimonial season at the club last season and the 27 year old utility man has attracted interest from several clubs.

Holloway also added that he wants Coidy to play in a settled position next season (injury permitting of course!).

'Danny is 27 and I still believe he has a lot left to give to this club before he moves on,' he added.

'He can play in two or three positions, but I'm going to try and nail him down to one next season so that he can fulfil his potential in that role.

'It will either be the full-back role or a midfield berth depending on how many injuries we've got.

'He won't be playing left-back though because I think he is better suited on the right side of the field, be it right-back or right centre midfield.'
