Speaking to the Blackpool Gazette, Pool chairman Karl Oyston has explained that Ian Holloway's appointment as manager has reinvigorated the club.
'Just having someone with a completely set of objectives and views, which a new manager brings, does tend to make you focus on each different area,' said Oyston.
'Maybe before we accepted things that weren't as we would want them if we actually focused on that area. Ian will change that I think because he will focus on those areas.
'It has given me my enthusiasm back, and probably given the fans a boost too I think.
'I've got a lot of enthusiasm now to drive things, things that have been niggling for last couple of seasons and things I think we lost focus on.
'The reason we lost focus was because everyone was focusing massively on one side of things, which was staying in the Championship.
'I think we lost touch with perhaps the areas that had got us into the Championship in the first place and it's important we focus on those now to try to move on again.'
Oyston said that two of the areas that the club would be focusing on would be the scouting and purchasing of young players and the fitness of players:
'The youth team hasn't really moved on and produced anything meaningful for a year or two so maybe that needs to be looked at and overhauled and maybe the policies need to be looked at.
'Then there are injuries. They had a seriously bad effect on us, particularly in the last two seasons. It's important to get it right.
'Ian has a lot of very good ideas on player fitness, the science behind it, and I hope we'll really improve in that area.'
Holloway met with his coaching staff last week in a long meeting to set out his plans, but despite all of the positive soundbites coming out of the club right now, there has been little action in terms of players' contracts and new signings.
This week's Blackpool Vital poll asks whether or not you believe all of Olly's soundbites, or if you're concerned that he might be all flash and no substance.
