Race For Rangers' Adam Hots Up?

Long term Blackpool target Charlie Adam is now attracting the interest of other Championship clubs, reports suggest.

Taken from 'The Herald' in Scotland, both Barnsley and Reading are thought to be looking keenly at the midfielder.

And the added interest comes as no surprise following Adam's match winning performances at the end of last season from the middle of midfield for The Seasiders.

But both The Royals and Tykes have failed to meet the £500k price tag set by Gers boss Walter Smith. The transfer fee is something Ian Holloway's men apparently do not have a problem with.

However, speaking to the BBC, the gaffer said on the Scotsman's situation:

'I understand he (Adam) didn't really answer the question when asked at the Player of the Year awards and he was talking about other possible moves.

'We want people who want to be here and play for us and want to feel like supporters when they're out there.'

Playing like a supporter was exactly how Charlie performed since his loan move in January, but perceived 'bigger' clubs coming in for him could turn his head.

However, whether or not Reading are actually in for the 23-year-old is up for debate, as they've yet to announce their new manager.

charlie's official transfer market evaluation is £1.700,000 and that is IMO about right for the wee man..........so if you can bag him for a half mill - GO FOR IT - he has had some outstanding performances on the left for the Gers and some memorable goals, he was plagued with injury and players like Lafferty, Fleck etc were drafted in. One thing is Charlie is a true blue and wants to play for Rangers BUT the current manager thinks it better hemoves on after all we have 5 players battling for the same position (4 of them Internationalists) There is an article on VitalRangers site today but with Burnley and Reading chasing him I would snap the Gers Youth Product up sharpish lads ! all the best - Rab - VitalRangers - ANY questions or queries on Adam, please feel free to ask on the Gers site orr send me a PM - cheers WATP
