Current Squad May Get Chance To Impress

In an interview with the Blackpool Gazette, Ian Holloway has stated that although he does have money to spend, that he may hold fire in the transfer market and give the current crop of players at the club a chance to impress him.

Ollie said:

'I've talked to the chairman and there is money in the kitty to add one or two if we need to.

'But you don't just rush out and buy the first players you come across. We've got to find and identify the right ones and the ones we need.

'I might not do anything now. I might look at the squad when we return for pre-season training and see how they are performing.

'Then if we get a chance to add just before the deadline that might be the right time to do it.

'But I think it's important that I give the lads already here a crack at it.

'They've been successful in staying in the Championship for two seasons now.

'This year they beat the points tally from the first season and that is a big success, especially after losing their manager.

'So these lads deserve some credit and they deserve a chance for me to look at them.

'I will tell them my thoughts and see if they can do what I want and then we will try and go if we can.'

Holloway also added that anyone who joins the club must do so for the right reasons:

'But what I will say is that everyone who comes here, everyone who I sign, will come here for the right reason - the same reason I have.

'I was getting it right for a long time in my career.

'I got it wrong at Leicester. I apologise for that but let's move on now, and that's what I'm going to do.'
