Oyston: Parkes Leaves Blackpool

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston has tonight confirmed that caretaker manager Tony Parkes has left the club.

In a somber interview with club secretary Matt Williams on the official site, Oyston said that Parkes tendered his resignation last Wednesday.

It was rumoured that Parkes was offered a deal by the club to take over full time, but the Chairman quashed those stories.

Family reasons is the official reason for the parting of ways, and that, according to the club, is perfectly understandable because of Tony's personal situation.

The club's search for a new manager continues, with names such as Jim Magilton, Gary Brabin, Ian Holloway, Alan Knill, Andy Ritchie and even John Sheridan are all being strongly linked, as well as Steve Thompson, whose future is unknown.

But KO did say that tomorrow will be the final day of interviews and that the club will make a quick decision regarding the managerial position, and it is now clear that interviews have, as reported on the forums, been ongoing for some time.

Interestingly, he stated that the final appointment should be straightforward.

We wish Tony Parkes well in his future endevours and thank him for keeping the club afloat this season.
