'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Confusion Over Adam Future

There seems to have been somewhat of a media frenzy surrounding Charlie Adam's future of the last day or two, but where he will be playing next season remains a mystery.

The Rangers midfielder has been on-loan at Blackpool since January - scoring two crucial goals against Norwich and Preston whilst pitching in with some fantastic displays.

And it's no secret that The Seasiders want to keep hold of their star attraction in the middle of midfield, with caretaker manager Tony Parkes saying 'I have spoken to our club secretary and we will be in touch with Rangers to see if we can do a deal for Charlie,'

'We would be delighted to get a deal done. We are trying to get it sorted as quickly as possible — if it is able to happen.

'I think Charlie would like to stay with us. He has enjoyed his time here and hopefully we can get an agreement.'

It's thought that Adam is earning £30k a month in Scotland, which equates to £7.5k a week - a figure probably not out of 'Pool's reach. The sticking point could be a transfer fee.

However, Gers boss Walter Smith has told BBC Sport that he expects Charlie to return to Ibrox.

'Once the Championship finishes this weekend, he will be back with us.

'So, like every other player on the staff, he will be with us next season unless something else comes along,'
said the former Scotland manager.

However, are these the quotes of the preamble to a sale? We've seen comments like this before and weeks later the player is sold; it's probably the case that Smith is holding out for a 'bigger' Championship club to come along and swoop the 23-year-old from under our noses.

This pre season it sounds as if the club are finally becoming well prepared for the campaign ahead, and if they can capture Adam in the coming weeks, things look very bright for Tony Parkes' side.
