Keep strutting your stuff DJ
We are getting used to relying on loan strikers to fire us to safety.
Last season we had Paul Dickov scoring six goals at the back end of the season to ensure our survival.
This year we've had Alan Gow (five goals), Liam Dickinson (four goals) and now DJ Campbell (six goals).
Campbell looks Championship quality. He has scored goals, created others and generally been a nuisance to the opposition centre backs since his arrival from Leicester in January. Southmapton boss Mark Wotte said Campbell has given his defenders more problems than any other striker since the Dutchman took charge of the Saints.
Equally DJ's workrate in chasing lost causes and putting players under pressure is another undervalued part of his game.
Admittedly he could and probably should have scored than once at the weekend but more goals are sure to come if he continues playing as he is.
The question is can we keep him? That seems unlikely. Leicester are certainties for promotion back to Championship but I'd be surprised if he stayed with the Foxes. Expect other Championship clubs to be sniffing around for his services. And would Pool be able to afford a transfer fee and his wages anyway?
It looks like DJ will join a long list of strikers who have done a good job for Blackpool on loan but move on soon enough.
