Seasiders need a couple more wins to survive
With six games to go survival is firmly in the hands of the Seasiders. So how many more points are required to sustain Championship football at Bloomfield Road?
Well, last season 53 points was just enough to secure survival for Coventry City who finished in 21st place. Leicester City went down with 52 points. Blackpool finished with 54 points in 19th position.
With 47 points on the board already we should be aiming for a higher finish this season. But just staying up would do for most.
So it seems anywhere between 52 and 55 points should be enough to stay up again this season. In our poll this week 46 per cent of you reckon between 51 and 53 points will be enough while 37 per cent think we may need up to 55 points.
Caretaker boss Tony Parkes admitted after Saturday's draw with Southampton that two more wins are still needed in the remaining six games. Hopefully one of those will come when Plymouth visit Bloomfield Road on April 4. That would move us onto 50 points and seven clear of the Pilgrims.
Let's just hope we aren't still waiting to secure our survival on the last day at Swansea - who could themselves need the points for a play-off spot. Our safety should be secure before then. But knowing Blackpool nothing is straightforward.
