Broomes Probably on his Way Back to Crewe

Central defender Marlon Broomes could see himself make a swift return to League One outfit Crewe Alexandra.

The 31-year-old was recalled by Tony Parkes from his loan spell at Gresty Road on Friday afternoon, and made the bench as The Seasiders beat relegation rivals Norwich City 2-0.

Broomes, who has played eight times for Alex since his move in January, has made no secret of the fact he wants to stay out on loan.

And his wish will probably by granted this week, as key defenders Ian Evatt and Rob Edwards come into contention for selection after injuries.

However, the whole situation has left Crewe boss Gudjon Thordarson a little frustrated as he said: 'I was disappointed about that because Broomesy trained with us on Friday,' but added that 'They (Blackpool) have said he might be with us again this week.'

In contradiction to that, Tony Parkes is remaining coy about the situation, saying: "We brought Marlon back because we're short at the back and we need him - it's as simple as that,"

"We play Tuesday and Saturday this week and the games are still coming thick and fast. If someone gets a knock Marlon is here to slip into the side."

Luckily for the Alex, they didn't miss Marlon too much over the weekend, as they beat Hereford United at home. However, they've only conceeded five goals and picked up 15 points in the last seven games in which Broomes has played in - with the former PNE man becoming a fans favourite - so he is obviously crucial in the bid for safety.
