To get you all in a positive mood ahead of tonight's game let's enjoy looking back at this fantastic victory over Burley on New Years Day last year.

A crowd just short of 9,600 packed into Bloomfield Road to celebrate the New Year in style with a thumping 3-0 win against Burnley.

This was arguably Blackpool's best home performance of last season, with the 5-3 win over Charlton a close second.

A team consisting of Rachubka, Barker, Crainey, Taylor-Fletcher and Jorgensen, all of whom are likely starters tonight, helped put the Clarets to the sword.

The first goal arrived in the 23rd minute courtesy of a well placed header from Kaspars Gorkss.

Then two goals in the space of four minutes in the second half killed off the Clarets. First Ben Burgess got on the end of a Calus Jorgensen cross from the left to power in a header from close range.

With Bloomers rocking Jorgensen sent a pile driver into the roof of the net from 25 yards to put the seal on a dominant performance by the home side.

Oh for a similar display from the boys in Tangerine tonight. Burnley were as disappointing as we were outstanding that afternoon last year. But it was roles reversed last September when Burnley eased to a comfortable 2-0 win at Turf Moor. We owe them one for that night when the players were poor.

Tonight begins the first of a crucial home double with Norwich to come on Saturday. We might not have Burgess, Gorkss or Hoolahan but we have players capable of putting in a performance that yields three points. Up the Pool!
