Burnley's Akinbiyi Linked To 'Pool

The national press has today once again linked Blackpool with a loan swoop for Burnley striker Ade Akinbiyi.

The 34-year-old has been transferred over his career for a staggering £15.25million - £750k of which Burnley paid for him back in 2007.

It was rumoured that Tony Parkes was interested in his services in January, but no deal was struck, and opinion is divided as to whether a move to Bloomfield Road would be of benefit to the club.

Since moving to Turf Moor, Akinbiyi has started just 30 games - scoring 10 goals. He's been used largely as a substitute - being brought on for The Clarets on no less than 40 occasions.

He's scored just the one goal from 15 appearances this campaign - although it did come at Stamford Bridge!

Bet you cant afford his wages!

What is it about Blackpool and journeymen forwards way past their best? AA is an expensive option who's starting to lose his pace with age. A handful for CBs granted but Pool are in danger of becoming a predictable, one trick pony team.
