On the pitch
Blackpool won for the first time under Tony Parkes and in doing so completed a deserved double over Birmingham City. The Seasiders ran out 2-0 winners at Bloomfield Road against an uninspired Birmingham who missed the chance to climb to second in the table.
DJ Campbell's header and a Keith Southern screamer clinched victory in the first half for Pool. Sub Claus Jorgensen was sent off when he clashed with Lee Bowyer in an off the ball incident in the 74th minute but Pool held on comfortably to move up to 15th in the division.
Off the pitch
Seasiders striker and top scorer this season Ben Burgess has been ruled out for up to three months. The big striker damaged medial ligaments in his knee against Coventry last week. Burgess could be facing a race against time to pull the Tangerine shirt on again before the end of the season.
Better news on the injury front for long-term absentees Stephen Crainey and Jermaine Wright. They both came through a behind closed doors friendly in midweek gaining a valuable 90 minutes of competitive action. Crainey even made his first team comeback as a second half substitute in yesterday's win over Birmingham. Daniel Nardiello and David Vaughan, both short of match practice in recent times, also got through 90 minutes in midweek to help to gain match fitness.
Club crest on the way
The Seasiders' official website confirmed on Friday that two 4m club crests are ready to be positioned on the West stand to finally show everyone who plays at Bloomfield Road.
Derby game to be re-arranged
Blackpool's trip to Pride Park originally scheduled for Tuesday 3 February will need to be re-arranged after the Rams' draw in the FA Cup. Their replay at Nottingham Forest will take place on Wednesday 4 February.

'3rd man for the management team` posted by AbelBFC but really taken from the Blackpool Gazette`s story on Gary Parkinson taking a more hands on role at the club since Simon Grayson`s departure. Yes we know he played for Preston, but he also played for the Pool and he has been doing an excellent job with the younger lads at the seaside. I would be glad to see Parky get a promotion and who knows he could be management material for the future.
What an excellent performance and result that was! Full credit to the staff, players and fans alike for a crucial three points yesterday. But special praise has got to go to key performances from Rob Edwards, GTF and DJ Campbell. Here's hoping for a repeat on Tuesday night when money-bags QPR are in town. Let's hope Keith Southern's knock doesn't rule him out because with Jorgensen's sending off our options in central midfield suddenly look very sparse.
