The Leeds perspective
Here's the view of Daz King, Leeds Vital editor on the events of the past seven days:
1.Are you and the Leeds' fans in general happy with the appointment of Simon Grayson?
'Time will tell, he`s done a good job for you over the last few seasons, he`s not had the easiest of rides and I can remember on a few occasions your fans were ready to call for his head. I think a lot of Leeds fans probably wanted a bigger name, personally I wanted someone who had the experience of lower league football.
2. Is promotion a must this season? If you don't go up will Grayson be sacked?
'I think a lot depends on how much money he gets to spend in the January transfer window. We are seven points adrift of the play offs so a decent run will see us get close. I think he will only get the sack if we really struggle and finish the season in the bottom half.
3. Do you still feel like a 'sleeping giant' just needing some momentum to move forward and get back up to the big time?
'We still have the fan base (over 33,000 for the Boxing Day game). I believe that we are in the division we are because we deserve to be there. I dislike Ken Bates but he deserves a lot of credit for getting Leeds out of the mire in the last few seasons but if we can get promoted from League One then he`s going to have to splash the cash if we are to get back into the Premiership. I don`t think we are ever going to be a top six side again, Bates is far too tight and we will never be able to compete with the top teams.
4. Is there any sympathy among Leeds fans for their Blackpool counter-parts?
'You get a lot of sympathy from me. I can believe all the rumours about Bates approaching Grayson even before McAllister was sacked, he`s never given a damn in the past about following any sort of guidelines or etiquette when approaching players or managers. What really annoys me is when other clubs come in and take a club's manager; there are enough decent managers out of work without taking someone else`s. Good luck for the rest of the season I hope Grayson leaving doesn`t disrupt your season.
5. Can you see any Pool players joining Grayson at Elland Road?
'We are already being linked with Alan Gow and I am sure we were linked with Ben Burgess in the summer.
6. What has gone wrong this season? Is it all down to Gary McAllister?
'I never wanted him in the first place, I didn`t think he was the right man to try and get a team out of League One with no experience of management at that level. Our defence as been our downfall, we have only kept four clean sheets all season. I said after we reached second place in November that I still didn`t think he was the right man for the job.'
A big thank-you to Daz for his time. Grayson's new team salvaged a last gasp point at home to Larry's former club Leicester at Elland Road yesterday in a 1-1 draw.
