On the pitch:
The contrast of home and away was once again evident. In midweek Pool slipped to their fourth successive loss this time at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday at Bloomfield Road. Two second half goals consigned the Seasiders to another home defeat.
But brighter times on the road as Blackpool produced a much better display at Plymouth yesterday. Yet with 12 minutes remaining found themselves a goal down. Step forward loan debutant Liam Dickinson and within three minutes the striker had turned the game on its head scoring twice to secure a valuable three points for Pool.
Off the pitch:
A hectic seven days in the transfer market for Simon Grayson. Out went goalkeeper Matt Gilks to Shrewsbury Town on loan. In came keeper Graham Stack from yesterday`s opponents Plymouth until January.
Kyel Reid and Liam Dickinson, who both made impressive debuts for the Tangerines yesterday, had only signed on Thursday from West Ham and Derby respectively. Both will remain at Bloomfield Road until the New Year.
Meanwhile Stephen Crainey gave the Blackpool boss a further boost by announcing that he could be back in action by the end of December. Last season`s player of the year hasn`t played for Pool since April.
Blackpool`s game against Preston at Deepdale on April 11 has been brought forward to a 1pm kick off.
Earlier this afternoon the Seasiders were paired with Torquay United in the third round of the FA Cup. The game should take place on Saturday January 3 at Plainmoor.
Best thread on forum:
'Attendances and empty seats` initiated by bfcpete. This has obviously been a hot topic of late with just about 7,000 turning up last Tuesday for the Sheffield Wednesday game. There are many reasons for the empty seats but it`s always worth mentioning that we aren`t the only club struggling to pull in the punters.
No midweek game this week so there`s a chance for Simon Grayson to get the players out on the training ground and do some good work and preparation for next Saturday`s big game against Charlton. A win for the Seasiders would put us 10 points ahead of the Addicks.
I hope the boys practise crossing this week because that is definitely an area we have been weak on all season.
