Men In Black

As Rotherham play host to Blackpool this weekend (weather permitting), who is the referee?

Dave Foster is his name, and he comes from Newcastle. This season is Foster`s first in The Football League, and he`s already made his mark on a number of games.

Having only done 12 league fixtures this season, Foster has produced four red cards, accompanied by 25 yellows. It seems he doesn`t really like giving cards, as he gives less than two yellows a game. However, if he has a player marked early, they best watch out, as he`s quickly on their back and isn`t lenient at all after they`ve received a caution.

Dave has only officiated in three League One games this year, with the rest being in League Two. He has though, refereed The Millers before and was in charge when United beat Crewe 5-1 in October. Not a good omen for us.

Bizarrely, we have had Foster before. On the last day of the 2002 season, Foster officiated in his first ever professional game as we humiliated Bristol City 5-1 (a good omen then!). However, it wasn`t until this season that Foster again refereed at league level and has been ever present in The Conference for a number of years.
