Preston Fans - Funny Lot Aren't They?

I stumbled across a funny story today involving a Preston fan and Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston. Do read on!

Posting on an unofficial website for PKE fans, the poster said:

'Ahoy all,

Right i have been debating whether to put this up for some time now because of any ramifications it may cause. I was hoping to keep it up my sleeve as an Ace card for when Radio Rovers next do a Chairman's night and ask him live on air but anyhoo with the impending game coming up i thought i would share it with you all.

Right here we go. About 6 weeks ago i attended Gloomfield Road on a Thursday Night for a Charity Quiz Nite with my work. I wasn't best pleased about it to be honest and i felt ill all night having to look around at pictures of Lashers etc. But because it was for charity i justified it in that respect. Anyway apart from the fact that they have a large picture of Hoolahan scoring the pen against us last term as you walk in (how petty) i had coped fairly admirably all night.

Anyway after the quiz was finished there was the raffle etc and Karl Oyston was sat on the table next to me which was just fantastic.

Afterwards after a few more beers and about 11.30 people were deciding to leave and Oyston got up. One of my work colleagues shouted over Mr Oyston come here i want to speak to you and this is the conversation that followed........

WC - Mr Oyston we have in our midst a Preston fan here who isn't too happy being here.

KO - Oh dear young man i bet you aren't feeling too good are you, i'm surprised your skin isn't falling off being here on enemy turf.

ME - Well I am feeling ill, but not about being here, it is about having to pay £26 in a few weeks to sit in that disgrace of a stand over there.

KO - (Laughs) Oh yeh.... Do you know what, I can't wait and i hope it pi**es it down on you!!!!

ME - ****GOBSMACKED****

ME - I'll probably get pneumonia there but i won't at PNE because at least we have 4 stands unlike this place.

KO - Oh here it comes, always about the stands. (Sniggers and walks off)


Now i don't know what anyone else has to say about this but i was absolutely disgusted by what was said by a supposed Chairman of a club. Could you see Degsy coming out with something as terrible to a Blackpoo fan?

People may think I am being a bit over sensitive or a bit of a wet willy but for a Football Club Chairman to say that to a football fan i think is totally out of order.

I have told some Blackpoo friends of mine and they are also disgusted and one who pays for sponsorship has considered removing it from the club because of what he said to me.

Blackpoo - very imaginative. Very funny story, and does go some way to prove that Karl Oyston is indeed human!
