On the pitch:
The Seasiders' produced contrasting performances to earn draws in their two games this week. Tuesday's 1-1 draw at money-bags QPR was hard earned. The point was built on a foundation of solid defence after Gary Taylor-Fletcher's first half thunderbolt screamed into the top corner of the net. QPR finally broke through 11 minutes from time thanks to Dexter Blackstock.

Yesterday's home draw with Cardiff was a welcome result after Pool failed to get going at all. In a scrappy game Paul Parry looked to have won the points for the visitors, scoring in the 84th minute. But with the fans filing out of Bloomfield up popped sub Alan Gow to salvage an unlikely point in injury time, scoring with a sweet left foot volley into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

Ressies thumped:
A youthful Blackpool reserve side lost 5-2 at Carlisle on Monday night. Ben Fishwick and Lewis Almond were on target for Pool.

Low attendance:
Blackpool's 1-1 draw with Cardiff was watched by a meagre crowd of 7,328, easily Blackpool's lowest home gate of the season. Will we sell out any games apart from the obvious this season?

Macca's back:
The sight of Steve McPhee making his first appearance of the season on Saturday was an unexpected but welcome one. I'm sure it won't be long before we have four fit and firing strikers once Danny Nardiello sorts out his injury issues.

Vaughan's Wales call up:
Midfielder David Vaughan was called up to the Wales squad for their forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Germany. Meanwhile Simon Grayson has championed Rob Edwards' cause, saying that his central defender is worthy of a place in the Wales squad.

Best thread on the forum:
'Is this the start of the end' initiated by crossy2425 referring to Big Ben Burgess and his worth to the Blackpool squad. An interesting debate here as BBB certainly divides the fans. Comparisons to former Pool favourite John Murphy are perhaps not far wide of the mark.

And so to the international break. Pool are sitting reasonably pretty in 16th place after two months of the season. A ggod time to take stock and be satisfied with our solid start. I hope Engoland's game against Kazakhstan is more exciting than yesterday's offering at the seaside!
