'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Wes Memorial Wall

Firstly the positive comments on Wes and his Pool career.

'I'll always remember the penelty against Prescum away 8th December 2007.' (Platos)

'Thanks for some great memories, will always remember your goal against the nobbers and the celebrations on the coach on the way to Leicester when we heard Wes was warming up on the pitch.' (smiffysbk3)

'thanks Wes and good luck except on aug 16 cu in the prem.' (suffolknwot)

On the other hand many supporters were disappointed with Hoolahan's lack of loyalty to the club. Here's a selection of the negative comments on the Wes Memorial Wall.

'I'd rather thank those that have stayed.'
(crossy2425)

'BYE BYE Hope your wallet doesn't slow you down too much.' (bisphamlad)

Arguably the pick of the posts came from BisphamTangerine who came up with the idea of a wall dedicated to the fromer Pool great Alan Suddick, the 'true King of Bloomfield Road.'

Suddick was voted as Blackpool's all time cult hero by BBC Football Focus viewers' in a vote in 2005. Suddick played at Bloomfield Road for seven seasons. Perhaps the midfielder's finest hour came when he helped Blackpool beat Bologna 2-1 to win the Anglo-Italian Cup in the 1970's.

Hoolahan's creativity will surely be missed by Blackpool. His skills and trickery around the opposition penalty box often helped to fashion chances for his colleagues. But it was his over extravagance in his own half that equally caused Pool problems.

At Blackpool Hoolahan was the man the players' and fans turned to for some magic to light up a match. At Norwich Wes may find his role to be slightly different. Hoolahan will have to adapt to not being the only star player. How he copes with this could shape his career.

Hoolahan has the quality to succeed and flourish at this level, and possibly beyond. Let's hope he isn't on top form when Pool travel to Norwich in the second week of the season.
