Hills For Oldham, Wilko Staying At Stoke?

Oldham Athletic are the latest team to be linked with a move for John Hills after his release from Blackpool.

Having struggled to break into the first team last season, due to injury and the form of Stephen Crainey, a move to League One outfit Oldham might now be on the cards as they are on the look-out for a left-sided player.

Although rumours of a move to Plymouth to link up again with his former Sheffield Wednesday boss Paul Sturrock cannot be discounted at this stage, clearly a deal with John Sheridan's side would be an attractive proposition for Hillsy if it enables him to regain regular first team action.

Meanwhile Andy Wilkinson, a constant target for Simon Grayson since his loan spell at the Seasiders in 2006-7, has declared a desire to stay with the Premier League new boys and fight for his place.

Only one year in to a three year deal at the Potteries club it looks like the Blackpool manager is finally going to have to give up his pursuit of the versatile defender, judging by comments made by the player.

"It is nice to have clubs interested in you but I thought I did well here last season.

"Stoke are my home-town club...This is where I want to be, and hopefully where the club wants me to be."

So with the door to a deal with Wilko appearing closed at this stage where will Larry look to further strengthen his defensive options when he returns from holiday on Monday? Fellow Potter Carl Dickinson, perhaps?

Hills cannot be that good if he was kept out of the team by Stephen crainey!
