Release Clauses, Claus Released?

Blackpool Vital has been informed that talismatic Irish left winger Wes Hoolahan has today joined Norwich City on a three year deal.

The most contentious issue surrounding this long running saga has been the alleged £250,000 release clause that Wes had in his contract allowing our newest full international to leave for a fee way below his market value.

To compound matters stories have in recent weeks circulated that two other star players - Kaspars Gorkss and Stephen Crainey - also have a similar clause in their contracts. Gorkss has for some time been linked with a move to Championship rivals such as Crystal Palace, Watford and Norwich.

However of even more concern is the story now emanating from the darkest reaches of East Lancashire that Burnley are planning to buy the popular Crainey for £1/4 million.

The question all Blackpool fans are asking themselves is has the Chairman, a man who has constantly claimed to be an astute businessman, really come a poor second in contract negotiations with a number of the first team squad?

As if this news was not bad enough to bear it seems we may possibly have seen the last of Claus Jorgensen in a Seasiders' shirt as the central midfielder appears to be stalling over accepting the one year contract offer made to him several weeks ago.

Mate, as a Norwich fan I can tell you we know all about this. Earnshaw, Francis, Etuhu - all recent City players with release clauses. The usual line trotted out is that the player would never have signed for us if the clause wasn't allowed. What do you do? Would you rather never have seen Hoolahan, et al perform for the Tangerines, is it really feasible for either of our clubs to take a stand and tell the players their get-out clauses are unacceptable? From a fans view, it's hard to see how a player can be committed to the cause if he knows he's got an easy way out, yet Earnshaw's goals kept us up two years ago - perhaps we should be grateful - maybe Wes, Kaspar and Crainey have done their jobs and deserve a cheap move? Discuss...

Head & heart not in it at the end. Some great memories but despite us taking him from nowhere no loyalty shown at all. Some ewill say we should be gtrateful for 2yrs. Onwards + Upwards

I agree with b_t,claus has been great for us after an indifferent start to life at the seaside,he was one massive loss to Faroe Islands as if you leave him on the bench to be replaced by a plumber
