Yet Another Promotion For A Former Seasiders Boss

If Simon Grayson is still contemplating leaving Blackpool for the League One surroundings of the Walkers Stadium, he would do well to look at the success of his recent predecessors at Bloomfield Road.

Three of the last five Seasiders bosses have managed teams that have been promoted to the top flight of English football.

Their impressive record reads :-

Sam Allardye - Bolton 2001
Gary Megson - WBA 2002 and 2004
Nigel Worthington - Norwich City 2004

And if you now add Hull City's Play Off triumph under Phil Brown, Big Sam's Assistant at Blackpool, the record reads 5 promotions in 8 seasons.

So have the Oystons just been very lucky with their appointments, or do the statistics back up the theory that Blackpool is nothing more than a staging post for managers with ambition?
