Byfield to Bloomfield?

Gary Johnson has reacted swiftly following his side's defeat to Hull in the Championship play-off final. City have released five players including striker Darren Byfield.

The former Gillingham hot shot was City's top scorer in the Championship this year bagging eight league goals but it wasn't enough to earn him a new deal at Ashton Gate.

News of Byfield's release is sure to alert Pool boss Simon Grayson who tried to lure the striker to the club before he signed for the Robins.

Byfield had a brief loan spell at the seaside in the nineties and this summer could see the return of the forward as Simon Grayson looks to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the new season.
