East Stand stays, till 2011

The temporary East stand was built in 2003 to house the away fans but no work is foreseeable on a replacement with no work starting on the South Stand which is first in line for redevelopment.

Many away fans have complained about the facilities for away fans with the uncovered seating and one food stall for the entire away following.

The council have advised that they unhappy with the lack of progress and foresee this extension being final.

Councilor Jim Houldsworth told the Gazette 'I'm very disappointed that this has come to committee again and that the club, having had five years to get this stand built, has not yet done so.

'I feel if it's granted we should look on it as the final three years. I know we cannot pre-empt what might be decided in future years but I feel we ought to make our feelings known that this has gone on long enough and we are looking for improvement in the development of the site and in the aesthetics of the stadium.'

At the same meeting an addition to the stand was approved for an extra 972 seats, meaning the away stand will hold around 2,772 (presuming the current stand hold 1,800).

Although its good news for the away fans it doesn't help the home fans, once again tonights home game with West Brom is sold out.
