Punching above our weight
A good score to judge the attendances by is home averages and also the percentage of the the ground is full. So we come out with an average of 8,745 fans per game which is the third worse in the league, below Scunthorpe 6,514 and Colchester 5,415.
With the capacity of our ground being at 9491, again the third worst behind Scunthorpe 9,183 and Colchester 6,200, it means we have a average capacity percent of 92.1%.
If you sort by capacity we come out second to Norwich who have a percent of 94% thanks to a season average of 24,489 at Carrow road which holds 26,034.
Considering the two teams at the bottom of the tables above, Scunthorpe and Colchester also sit at the bottom of the league table it shows that we`ve done well to keep our heads above the water so far considering we have one of the smallest supports in the league.
It`s also a sad fact that if you look at the teams relegated from the Championship from the past 4 years you see that quiet a few are clubs with 'smaller` ground and smaller support.
So although we`ve managed (well not yet!) to secure Championship status this year is it going to worthless unless redevelopment at Bloomfield Road kicks in allowing us to have bigger crowds?
Are we destine to go down next season due to us being too small? Will those pre-lets come too late?
