'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Where are they now?

The 26 - year old midfielder signed for Pool on loan from Blackburn in 2003. Danns immediately impressed in the centre of the park, scoring a 30 yard screamer in a league win against Oldham at Boundary Park.

Danns went on to make 14 appearances in his loan stint, scoring two goals.

Unfortunately Steve McMahon couldn`t keep him or his Blackburn team mate Jonathan Douglas after their loans expired.

After finding first team opportunities limited at Ewood Park Neil signed for Colchester United. The midfield maestro helped the U`s clinch promotion to the Championship weighing in with his fair share of goals as the Essex club took everyone by surprise in League One.

In total Danns scored 25 goals in 78 appearances for Colchester - a formidable goal scoring record for a midfielder.

A big money move to Birmingham followed, but sadly for Danns he struggled to make an impact at St Andrew`s. Neil was limited to mainly substitute appearances for the Blues though he did find the net three times.

Neil Warnock snapped up Danns in the January transfer window for Championship rivals Crystal Palace.
If Warnock can get him playing like he did for Pool and Colchester then Palace will have a real player on their hands.
I think Danns has just about everything for an attacking midfield player - flair, vision, energy and a proven goal scoring prowess.
The Seasiders should come up against their former loanee at Selhurst Park later this month. We can only hope that Danns isn`t firing on all cylinders. He is definitely a player I would like to see pull on a Tangerine shirt again in the future.

Yeah agree is a top quality player, just a pity we couldn't hang on to him.
