Foot In Both Camps - Brett Ormerod

Brett Ryan Ormerod began his professional football career at Accrington Stanley. However he was quickly snapped up by Blackpool in March 1997 for £50000, one of the few positives to come out of Gary Megson's brief reign.

Brett's four years at the seaside demonstrated both the highs and lows of professional football, with him battling back from a badly broken leg to star in the promotion side of 2000-1, under Steve McMahon.

The following season on the back of an exceptional scoring record Premiership side Southampton bought him for a club record £1.75 million.

Despite appearing in an FA Cup Final Brett found first team opportunities limited, and was loaned out to the likes of Leeds United and Wigan Athletic.

After Southampton's relegation to the Championship he was able to play more often after the sale of various teammates who had kept him out of the side.

On January 28, 2006 Blackpool's arch-rivals Preston North End snapped Brett up on a free transfer. Unfortunately he again broke his leg in May 2006, during the Play Off Semi Final with Leeds United.

This season he has been very much involved in Preston's first team with 12 appearances to date, and one goal.
